Real Change for Spare Change in Portland

From: Mercy Corps

On any given night in Portland an average of 2,000 people sleep on the streets.

Giving money to panhandlers often perpetuates the circumstances that lands people there in the first place. Instead of giving money, donate your coins to a “REAL CHANGE, NOT SPARE CHANGE” meter at locations around town.

The change is collected monthly and turned over to local homeless advocacy organizations. Know where the meters are in downtown Portland and make sure you use them.
