Support H.R. 2817, the Roadmap to End Global Hunger and Promote Food Security Act of 2009. The bill lays out recommendations for a comprehensive national plan to not only fight hunger, but create opportunities that will allow families around the world to make sure they can feed themselves next month, next year and 10 years from now.

Not feeding people is a matter of choice by all of us and is thus not predetermined.

We can help so many people with so little. While our cups run over with the blessings we have recieved, can we sit by idly while 1 billion people go to bed tonight hungry? Hunger pains is not just a word - hunger hurts. Hunger disempowers. Hunger destroys lives and futures. Mothers watch their children fade away when all they need is nutritios food. That is all. Nutritious food can end the hopelessness and hurt of many. Will you help? Please do what you can. That is all we ask.

This is your time to shine. Pass this bill and be heros. Do not pass this bill and become yesterday6's news because you will not get back into Congress to save your souls. Just look at the seats being filled by your opponents and you'll hopefully get the message.

There is food enough for all of us. What will it take to have the will to make this so?

We absolutely cannot sit idly by in our land of plenty while so many are dying each day from hunger. We must do all that we can to help those in desperate need.

Cut through Capitol Hill's red tape and force dozens of bureaucratic federal agencies to work together to overcome world poverty and hunger.

I do believe there is no reason that anyone should ever go hungry. Maybe if all the restaurants didn't make so much food and have to throw it out later in the day. What about all the farmers that have to take less money for their goods because they grew too much or it was getting old. Maybe if the government paid more to the farmers for the food and take it to the food banks to contribute to the poor and hungry. Watch those on food stamps and aide to make sure the money goes to feed and and clothe the children, not for them to drive new cars.

This Bill should include a strong family planning as well and it should be implemented. Proper family planning would liberate women around the World and make them part of an active society rather than using them as baby making machines and perpetuating the dominance over women who have no power over their reproductive rights.
Overpopulation is at the root of all poverty and hunger!

Also, I would like to know who is in charge and who to hold accountable. The Roadmap:

Establishes a White House Office on Global Hunger and a national Hunger Coordinator who can take the lead in putting the comprehensive strategy into action and in improving coordination to successfully address global hunger
Restores the now-defunct Congressional Select Committee on Hunger to perform the vital task of coordinating the multiple congressional committees with legislative authority over global hunger issues

We should not have hungry people in America, especially young families. They must be healthy. They are this country's future.

As a country we need to rebuild our credibility in the world, and this is an effective way to start. I trust you will vote FOR this bill.

In our world of plenty, no person should go to bed hungry. Please act to cut hunger in half.

please come up with a strategy to help world hunger problem! We in west are very wasteful while many in Africa and third world countries don't have their bread or clean water!! I am sure we can do something, if we only bring it to the attention of those in power and politicians in white house.

Is it possible that a program such as the one Rep. McGovern is supporting, could do good on many levels? Not just feeding people but employing those not now able to find work? Why not?

If God feeds the birds for free, why the human race have to be so greed in giving a little amount of the blessings that He gives.

I suggest that the Mercy Corps Action Center have their Website or computer personnel design a prepared letter which we then could send to our representatives as is or edit it to our personal style. The reality is that many committed people are also pressed for time. Yes, hunger is important, but myriads of other worthy organizations also press us to write or call our reps regarding their issues, and it becomes more difficult. I hope you can find a way to make this happen, as they say.

The roadmap to global sufficiency in food supply lies in the total and personal ability of each individual, each people, each government and each society to promote policies that will help them come out of total hunger,
It is true that The Technology from America can help us but the American will not give africa the machine and the labour, better still, machines develope for agricultural purposes in America cannot be well adapted in Africa, So Africa may certainly be in need of its own size, capacity, horse power and type of machine to withstand the field and soil of Africa.
The world is already a global village, My brothers, Whether we are Africans, Americans, Chinese, Indians, Europeans, or Asians, let us joint hands to support policies that promote hunger fighting initiatives.
If Africans die of Hunger, the north-South trade relationship will be affected, Europe will not have enough raw materials to feed its industries, production will drop in europe, the will be and increase in prices of goods produce due to scarcity, living standards will drop, hunger will ensue and the society will crumble just because we did not support policies that promote hunger fighting initiatives.
The same will happen to Africans, Americans, and Asians if we fail to support hunger fighting initiatives. so come on lets go
