Mercy Corps, along with 18 colleague agencies, signed on to a letter that will be sent to the Administration and Congress urging them to address both the current global food crisis and the root causes of hunger worldwide.
The letter, drawn up by InterAction, calls on our leaders to increase funding for food assistance and disaster assistance, including $300 million dollars to address the impact of the food crisis through the International Disaster Account and $50 million to provide aid for refugees and internally displaced people through the World Food Programme. Mercy Corps is responding to the current global food crisis and reporting on the effects it is having on our programs around the world. You can also make a donation to our Global Food Crisis fund to help our field teams respond to needs arising from the world global food crisis in recent memory.
